Bandhan Bank ranks among India’s fastest-growing private sector banks. Headquartered in Kolkata, the bank has scaled its presence across the country, and offers a mix of retail banking, lending, and financial inclusion services.
With its rapid expansion, Bandhan needed a management solution for its software development cycles. To meet this end, Zethic built PINPoint, a centralized IT lifecycle management platform.

The Requirements: What the Platform Had to Deliver

At the time, Bandhan had a non-standardized, fragmented approach to keeping all its IT changes in track. Bank employees were using spreadsheets and email chains, losing out on communication efficiency,  facing communication gaps and operational delays.

This inefficiency called for a standard platform for managing all software development-related changes in the organization. This software had to:

Create automated workflows, with role-based approvals, and SLA enforcement

Standardize project initiation and project change requests

Provide end-to-end traceability across testing, InfoSec, and deployment

Deliver clear dashboards for different user roles

Guarantee data security and compliance readiness at every stage

The Challenges: Roadblocks in the Project

When we began the design and development for PINPoint, our team had to get closely acquainted with Bandhan’s specifications – to deliver a platform that was actually competent.

Bank-Specific Customization

Designing the platform was not a single-step process. Our team had to understand the specifics of the banking industry, their workflows, requirements, and zone of comfort from the platform.

Our team had to design workflows that could balance all the stakeholders in the IT lifecycle management process, as close to Bandhan’s actual processes as possible

Understanding and Integrating Compliance

Banks and financial institutions are under immense regulatory scrutiny. The platform we designed had to comply with the compliance requirements of RBI IT, GDPR, and ISO. We approach this by pitching audit logging, version control, and reporting tools.

Adoption At Scale

Existing software development management tools overwhelm users. We understood Bandhan’s vision for a clean and simple platform that could be adopted by technical and non-technical staff alike.
